IPL 2019: Shikhar Dhawan to join Kings XI Punjab

In the upcoming 12th Edition of Indian Premier League that will be held from 29 March to 19 May 2019, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to move to Kings XI Punjab for the Indian Premier League 2019.

Shikhar Dhawan is a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought him for an amount of Rs 5.2 Crore. As per Reports, it seems that Dhawan’s salary is being doubled at Kings XI Punjab.

Karun Nair, who was bought by Kings XI Punjab for an amount of Rs 5.6 Crore couldn’t perform to the expectations last season. So Dhawan is likely to swap places with Karun Nair.

The report of Shikhar Dhawan’s move to Kings XI Punjab is surprising as The Mumbai Mirror reported that the Dhawan is unhappy with the 2016 IPL champions and he could be moving to the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season.

Dhawan’s move to Mumbai Indians could be pleasing for Indian fans as Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings with Rohit Sharma and their partnership is at the top level. But if Dhawan moves to Kings XI Punjab, he will be opening the innings with KL Rahul who was bought by the KXIP for Rs 11 Crore.

The official announcement for Shikhar Dhawan’s move is yet to be made as soon as the transfer window will end in a few weeks.

Mumbai Indians have already added Quinton de Kock who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians have also released Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya ahead of the auction for the next season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad could possibly release Manish Pandey as batsman failed to do justice with the amount of Rs.11 Crore for which he was bought by the franchise. Rajasthan Royals could release Jaydev Unadkat, who was bought for Rs 11.5 Crore as he just managed to take 11 wickets in IPL 2018.

As per reports, the auction for the upcoming season will take place in Goa instead of Bangalore on December 16. Other teams are also expected to come up with lists of released or transferred players.

He told that he had already started preparing for India vs Australia tour and, if given an opportunity, will attempt to perform well.

Vihari says his journey has many ups and downs especially when he did not get a chance to play at a higher level in spite of his good performance in the Ranji Trophy. But that is part of history now. Vihari on remembering his days of struggle emotionally told that his mother had sacrificed a lot for him, all this whatever he has achieved today is because of her.

Past records show that Rohit has played 25 Tests till now in which he has scored 1479 runs at an average of 39.97. Rohit made a comeback to the Test team last year when he replaced Karun Nair for the tour of Sri Lanka. He played his first Test in more than a year in the home series against Sri Lanka last year.

There he scored 217 runs in two Tests at an average of 217. He was also picked ahead of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in the series against South Africa early this year. But Rohit failed to covert the opportunity. He failed to score even a half-century in the first two Tests. The selectors have ignored the batsman consistently since then.

Prithvi Shaw as an Opener for Indian Cricket Team

Although Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are considered as the best openers for Indian Cricket Team. They are India’s No.1 choice as the openers.

Selectors and Management had a meeting with the captain Virat Kohli and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma to make the youngest player Prithvi Shaw to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma in the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.

As per a report in Indian Express, the team management is very keen to test Prithvi Shaw as an opener as they want to look at different options for the World Cup 2019.

Prithvi Shaw had already opened alongside KL Rahul in his debut One Day International match against West Indies.

The discussions were attended by the selectors, captain Virat Kohli, coach Ravi Shastri, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane. The selection committee has decided to keep shuffling the squad for ICC World Cup 2019 and keep key players fresh.

As told by Indian Express “With an eye to the World Cup, the main focus was how to rotate players. In fact, more than rotation, it would be more about how to save our key players. That’s why you would see the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Shami in and out of the squad, not playing regularly. The players who are important for all formats will be adequately taken care of. Going ahead also, these things will keep happening,”

Prithvi Shaw joined the elite list of players by bagging the man of the series award in the Test series. His shot-making abilities are quite appreciated. In 22 List A games, Shaw has scored 938 runs at an average of 42.33 and at a strike rate of 115.37.

Suresh Raina not included in India’s ODI Squad against West Indies but should be included in 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

The squad that was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for the first two ODIs against West Indies includes Captain Virat Kohli , Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan , Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, K Khaleel Ahmed, Lokesh Rahul and Umesh Yadav.

Suresh Raina is missing from the list of players. The left-handed middle-order batsman Suresh Raina is not included by BCCI in India’s Squad. He is an excellent fielder too. The Uttar Pradesh boy can put a control on the opposition’s scoring rate with his off-breaks and can also stop the batsmen from rotating the strike with his fielding skills.

With the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup is approaching the Indian selectors should give chance to Suresh Raina to prove himself.

Raina should have been a part of the ODI squad as he is reliable and experienced batsmen. He is an excellent fielder. He is an all-rounder and spinner that India needs.

Suresh Raina is only Indian cricketer who can play fearlessly. From the first ball itself, his hard work is seen. Raina can be essential in the last 10 overs of the innings as he can score runs at a faster rate while consuming the minimum number of balls.

Raina can play in the lower order too. He is a flexible batsman. He can play a match-winning innings at whatever position he is asked to play at.

As far as bowling is concerned, India’s pace-bowling all-rounder in Hardik Pandya . The teams now prefer four main frontline bowlers and 1-2 all-rounders. India has not found their spin bowling all-rounder. Although Jadeja has performed well with the ball. But his batting is not reliable in ODIs.

Suresh Raina is a part-time off-spinner. He used to bowl consistently under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. So he should have been included in ODI Squad. He has 36 ODI wickets to his name.

As a fielder, Suresh Raina's fielding skills are unmatched. India’s fielding issues have been going on for ages. Raina took the Indian fielding to a new level. Raina is a terrific fielder.

If Suresh Raina plays to his 100% capability, then he can be India’s biggest player at the ICC World Cup 2019.
